My Favorite Route: A Tour with Photographs

2016-06-19_094046162_7BD9A_iOSI feel like there is just no beating the Triangle area when it comes to running routes, and the following photo tour is my absolute favorite in this area. It has a little of everything: road, trail, bridle path, greenway, lakes, creeks, hills, and plenty of water and bathrooms stops along the way. A runner cannot ask for a better route!

The route begins with a run up and down the hills of Dynasty Drive in Cary, NC. You turn out onto Harrison Ave and run a pretty solid, gently climbing hill past the war memorial and into Umstead Park.

From Umstead, you turn right onto the greenway and run past Crabtree Lake, which offers yet more amazing views (and a bit of relief from the Umstead hills!).

Towards the end of the route, there is yet another water stop and a dock out onto the lake, the perfect spot for one final photograph and a sprint to the finish.
